Mark and Spencer Campaign 2010

Marks and Spencers: Advertising and promotion

This one is a blast from the past but Sir Geoff loves the photo and the team mates in it; Gordon Banks, Martin Peters and Roger Hunt, all now sadly departed and much missed.

When M&S was named as the tailor for the official Football Association suit to be worn by the England team at the 2010 World Cup tournament in South Africa, these very special names came to mind to help them launch the perfect ad campaign.

Reuniting the 1966 winners, the campaign, 'Four Legends, One Label', was developed by ad agency RKCR and was designed to work in tandem with the current footballers featured in the 'Three Lions, One Tailor' campaign.

Featured in the national press as two consecutive double page spreads, the campaign ran throughout the World Cup.

"It was great fun to meet up with Gordon, Martin and Roger," said Sir Geoff. "As soon as I read the brief, I knew it would be a great to be involved in a project with such a great fit! No pun intended!

"Martin and I were great friends and I miss my teammates so when it came to reviewing my website I wanted to keep them here as a little reminder of the fun we had working on this campaign."

Sir Geoff Hurst

Sir Geoff Hurst MBE secured a unique place in the history of football in 1966 when he became the first and, for more than 56 years, the only player to score a hat-trick in a World Cup Final.

Sir Geoff says that he 'had a great run', nevertheless he remains the only player to score a 'perfect' hat-trick and the only to be on the World Cup winning team.

Knighted in 1998 and inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame in 2004, Sir Geoff holds a special place in the hearts of football fans across the world and, perhaps surprisingly, this includes Germany!
